Internship or Thesis: Trade-off Analysis and Pareto Optimization of a Welding Inverter (m/f/d)
Type: Full-time position
Location: Singen, Germany
The development of a new welding inverter involves a wide range of requirements—from efficiency and performance to cost and product robustness. Careful consideration and optimization of these factors contribute to the development of a product with excellent performance and high cost-effectiveness. In your work, you will conduct an analysis of these trade-offs and propose a framework for Pareto optimization.
Your Responsibilities
- You will record and categorize technical requirements for the new welding inverter
- You will develop a simulation model of the welding inverter that includes adjustable parameters
to account for various design options - You will examine the interactions between design parameters such as efficiency, size,
cost, and performance in a trade-off analysis, identify compromises, and evaluate
their impact on the overall performance of the welding inverter - Using the results of the simulation and trade-off analysis, you will optimize the
design of the welding inverter as effectively as possible, taking multiple requirements into account - You will compile your research findings, implementation concept, and
recommendations for future developments in a report
Your Profile
- Degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field
- Experience with technical analysis and modeling
- Independent, proactive, and diligent way of working
- Curiosity about product development in welding technology in a global customer market
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
- Very good German and English skills
