Internship or thesis: Development and optimization of a peak current mode control in a welding inverter (m/f/d)
Type: Full-time position
Location: Singen, Germany
Current regulation is a critical factor in welding technology that significantly influences the quality and efficiency of the welding process. To improve the dynamic regulation of the current, you will develop and implement a Peak Current Mode Control (PCMC). In doing so, you will contribute to the further development of a welding inverter.
Your Responsibilities
- You conduct a literature review and gain an overview of existing research, technologies, and solutions in the field of PCMR.
- You evaluate an existing analog controller and examine its performance and limitations in the inverter.
- You define the requirements for the analog controller based on the evaluation.
- You develop and implement a PCMR for the welding inverter.
- You conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the PCMR, taking into account minimum current, maximum current, dynamics, and avoidance of transformer saturation.
- You define the requirements for the PCMR, including component selection, setting parameters, sensing, and other relevant parameters.
- You compile your research findings, improvement strategy, and recommendations for future developments in a report.
Your Profile
- Degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field
- Basic knowledge of control engineering; knowledge of power electronics and PCB design is an advantage
- Independent, proactive, and diligent way of working
- Curiosity about product development in welding technology in a global customer market
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
- Very good German and English skills
